Perspective

During our second week of school, we introduced our classroom jobs. We discovered that every week, we will each have a specific task that is our own. We take a look at the chart each Monday, find our name and decipher which job is ours. Some jobs are familiar, like Line Leader or Bell Ringer. Some are new, like our Photographer job.

We got acquainted with our tiny camera, learning how it works and how to take care of it.

For now, our weekly Photographer is documenting in our outdoor space.

It is fascinating to observe each child's perspective. We have only had two Photographers so far, but each perspective has been a little different.

 From fast action shots...
to varied angles...
...to up close and personal

Silly moments with friends...
and documenting bravery from 3 points of view!

We love to see the each child's view of their present moment.

Their friends

Their view.
 Their world.
What a gift for us to catch a glimpse.

Building Friendships

Well, we did it! We completed our first week of Kindergarten, and we bet you had some tired kiddos this weekend! We are so excited to begin our journey with you and your Kindergartner and share with you what is happening along the way. This will be the place where you can see the amazing learning that goes on throughout the week.

Last week we focused on friendships and creating community.

We began by exploring the materials in our block area together. Our collaborative building was almost instantaneous!

Some of us had a plan in our heads from the beginning. "I want to build a house!" We all found ways to build within the space allotted. Not surprisingly, we used all of our materials in this area!

The play got more and more collaborative and purposeful as our time went on.

After working together in the block area, we reflected on our time and discussed our feelings and ideas. "We built a bridge together!"

"I noticed the wall got very tall!"

We shared ideas on how to best work together, share, and solve problems. This was the start to our "Class Agreement", which will continue to develop over the coming days. It's so great to see how our community started to develop within the first hour of class on the first day! We look forward to sharing even more of our first week with you very soon!
